Job Overview:
We are seeking a experienced Chef to manage the kitchen operations of our food van, specializing in authentic Chinese and Tandoori cuisine. The ideal candidate will be an all-roundercommitted to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:
Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes (stir-fries, noodles, pasta, etc.) and Tandoori items to high standards.
Marinate vegetables using traditional spices and techniques for the tandoor oven.
Operate and maintain the tandoor oven and wok station safely and efficiently.
Menu & Quality Control:
Ensure all dishes meet consistent quality and presentation standards
Assist in menu planning and development of new, innovative dishes that align with the food van's concept.
Kitchen & Operations Management:
Manage the day-to-day kitchen operations within the limited space of a food van.
Monitor and manage inventory and stock levels for all ingredients and supplies, placing orders as required.
Minimize food waste by using ingredients efficiently and ensuring proper portion control.
Hygiene & Safety:
Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, work stations, and all equipment.
Strictly adhere to all health and safety regulations and food safety guidelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Proven experience as a Chef in a high-volume kitchen or food truck, with demonstrated expertise in both Chinese and Tandoori cuisine.
Culinary Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of traditional Chinese and Indian cooking techniques, flavor profiles, spices, and ingredients.
Adaptability: Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Operational Skills: Strong understanding of various kitchen equipment, including tandoor ovens and wok ranges.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
