Chef

BASTA Foods, Gotri (Vadodara), is hiring kitchen staff at four levels: Commis III, Commis II, Commis I and Chef de Partie (CDP). Our menu includes Continental dishes, pizza and pasta, and bakery items. Freshers and experienced chefs can both apply. Your level and salary depend on your experience and skills.

COMMIS III (0-1 year, freshers welcome)

• Wash, cut and portion vegetables, fruits and herbs

• Help with basic mise en place before service

• Keep the workstation, utensils and storage clean

• Store and label ingredients correctly (FIFO)

• Assist senior chefs during service

COMMIS II (1-2 years)

• Prepare mise en place for your station as per recipes

• Cook and plate simple dishes under supervision

• Make basic sauces, doughs, marinades and stocks

• Follow standard recipes and portion sizes

• Guide and support the Commis III

COMMIS I (2-3 years)

• Run your station on your own during service

• Cook Continental, pizza/pasta and bakery items to standard

• Plan daily prep lists and raise indents

• Control wastage and keep the cold room organised

• Train Commis II and III, and cover for the CDP

CHEF DE PARTIE / CDP (4-5 years)

• Lead a full section and keep food quality consistent

• Manage indents, receiving and stock for your section

• Develop and test new dishes, and help with menu changes

• Maintain standard recipes, plating guides and SOPs

• Control food cost, portion sizes and wastage

• Train and supervise the commis team

• Make sure FSSAI hygiene and safety standards are followed

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in Continental, pizza/pasta or bakery is preferred

• Good knowledge of hygiene and food safety

• Hardworking, punctual and a good team player

• Willing to work rotational shifts, weekends and holidays

• A culinary or hotel management diploma is a plus, but not required

WHAT WE OFFER

• Salary: Rs. 15,000 - 25,000 per month, based on level and experience
