Job Title: Indian Chef
Job Summary
An Indian Chef is responsible for preparing authentic Indian cuisine, ensuring high-quality food presentation, maintaining kitchen hygiene standards, and contributing to menu development. The chef must have strong knowledge of traditional Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a wide range of Indian dishes including North Indian, South Indian, Tandoori, and Indo-Chinese cuisine.
Plan and design menus featuring traditional and contemporary Indian recipes.
Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation.
Manage food preparation, cooking schedules, and kitchen operations.
Monitor food stock levels and place orders when needed.
Maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety and hygiene standards.
Train and supervise junior kitchen staff.
Control food costs and minimize waste.
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and spices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as an Indian Chef or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Indian spices, herbs, and traditional cooking techniques.
Expertise in preparing curries, biryanis, tandoori items, breads (naan, roti), and regional specialties.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
Good leadership and team management skills.
Knowledge of food safety regulations.
Culinary diploma or certification (preferred).
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Experience in fine dining or high-volume restaurants.
Knowledge of regional Indian cuisines (Punjabi, Chettinad, Gujarati, etc.)
Experience with menu costing and inventory management.
