JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bakery Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality bakery products while maintaining consistency, hygiene, and food safety standards. The role also involves developing innovative bakery products, improving existing recipes, controlling production quality, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
1. Research & Development (R&D) Bakery Chef
The most widely used industry designation. Responsible for researching, developing, testing, and improving new cakes, pastries, breads, cookies, and other bakery products.
2. Product Development Chef (Bakery)
Focuses on creating new recipes and bakery products that are commercially viable and ready for market launch.

Develops innovative concepts, unique flavors, product presentations, and creative bakery offerings to enhance the brand portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Develop innovative cakes, pastries, cookies, breads, and other bakery products.
Create new flavors, fillings, frostings, toppings, and decorative concepts.
Standardize recipes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, appearance, and large-scale production.
Prepare product costing and optimize recipes for cost-effectiveness.
Conduct product trials, shelf-life studies, and quality improvement initiatives.
Research market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor products to introduce new bakery items.
Collaborate with the Production Team to successfully implement new products.
Train production staff on new recipes, baking techniques, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, including FSSAI, GMP, and HACCP.
Continuously improve existing products to enhance quality, shelf life, and customer satisfaction.
Maintain detailed documentation of recipes, formulations, production processes, and product specifications.
