Key responsibilities
News Presentation: Delivering live and pre-recorded news segments, including headlines, reports from field correspondents, and breaking news updates.
Research and Scripting: Researching local, national, and international news stories, collaborating with reporters and producers, and potentially writing, reviewing, and revising news scripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and engagement.
Interviews and Commentary: Conducting interviews with guests, experts, and stakeholders to provide context and analysis on current events, as well as offering commentary and insights.
Collaboration: Working closely with a team of journalists, including reporters, producers, editors, and technical staff, to ensure the smooth production and delivery of news programs.
Fact-Checking: Verifying the accuracy and reliability of news stories, researching various sources, and cross-referencing details to provide credible information.
Maintaining Professionalism: Projecting a professional image and demeanor while on-air, maintaining composure, especially during live broadcasts and challenging situations.
Audience Engagement: Building rapport with the audience, potentially through interactions on social media and participation in community events.
Staying Informed: Keeping abreast of current events, trends, and developments in different fields, including politics, business, and social issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Broadcasting, or a related field.
Proven experience as a news anchor or in a similar broadcasting or reporting role is often preferred.
Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and principles.
Knowledge of media law and regulations.
Experience with social media and other digital platforms for news dissemination.
