Cashier

As a cashier at a car dealership like Modi Hyundai in Vasai, you will be responsible for handling customer payments, issuing receipts, and providing administrative support to different departments. Core duties and responsibilities

Transaction Processing

• Receive and process payments from customers for vehicle sales, service repairs, and parts using cash, checks, and credit cards.

• Operate cash registers and point-of-sale (POS) systems accurately.

• Calculate and process refunds, credit memos, and returns for merchandise.

• Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and report any discrepancies to management. 

Customer Service

• Greet customers in a pleasant and professional manner, both at the cashier window and over the phone.

• Answer customer questions about payments and invoices, or direct them to the appropriate department (sales, service, or parts).

• Resolve customer complaints and billing issues with integrity and poise, escalating to a manager when necessary. 

Administrative Support

• File and maintain repair orders, parts invoices, and other daily transaction documentation.

• Assist the receptionist with answering incoming phone calls and directing them to the correct parties.

• Perform other clerical or secretarial duties as assigned by department managers. 

Communication and Teamwork

• Collaborate with the service, sales, and parts departments to ensure all transaction details are correct.

• Maintain open communication with managers and other team members to stay updated on dealership promotions and pricing.

• Present a professional appearance and keep your work area neat and clean. 

Required skills and qualifications

• Experience: Prior experience as a cashier or in a customer service role is typically preferred.

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required.

• Technical skills: Proficiency with cash registers, POS systems, and basic computer software like Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary.

• Mathematical skills: Strong numerical and calculation skills are essential for handling payments and making change accurately.

• Personal attributes: Key qualities include high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, integrity, and excellent verbal communication.
