Roles and Responsibilities of a Carpenter

Measure and Plan Work
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements
- Take accurate measurements and plan layout accordingly
Cut and Shape Materials
- Cut, shape, and smooth wood, plywood, and other materials using hand and power tools
- Ensure precision and quality in all cuts and fittings
Install Structures and Fixtures
- Build and install doors, windows, cabinets, furniture, and frameworks
- Fix wooden structures such as partitions, shelves, and panels
Repair and Maintenance
- Repair damaged furniture, fixtures, and wooden structures
- Replace broken parts and ensure durability
Use Tools and Equipment Safely
- Operate tools like saws, drills, hammers, and measuring devices safely
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain tools properly
Material Handling
- Select appropriate wood and materials based on project needs
- Check quality and ensure minimal wastage
Polishing and Finishing
- Apply varnish, polish, laminates, or paint for final finishing
- Ensure smooth and neat appearance
Follow Safety Standards
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Use protective equipment like gloves and helmets
Team Coordination
- Work with contractors, supervisors, and other workers
- Complete tasks within deadlines
