Job Description

skilled tradesperson who constructs, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, such as wall frameworks, doors, cabinets, and staircases. Carpenters work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects, interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, assembling components, and ensuring the quality and safety of their work. Key ResponsibilitiesReading Plans: Interpreting blueprints and construction plans to understand project specifications. Measuring and Cutting: Accurately measuring and cutting wood, plastic, and other materials to the correct size. Assembly: Joining wood and other materials using tools to construct building frameworks, such as walls, floors, and doorframes. Installation: Installing pre-fabricated elements, fixtures, and fittings into buildings. Repairs: Inspecting and repairing damaged structures, frameworks, and fixtures. Safety: Adhering to safety protocols on construction sites. Tools and MaterialsHand and Power Tools: Proficiently using tools like hammers, saws, chisels, planes, and drills. Measuring Tools: Using levels, measuring tapes, framing squares, and other measuring equipment. Materials: Primarily working with wood, but also with materials like wood substitutes, lightweight steel, wallboard, plastic laminates, and concrete, depending on the project. Work SettingsConstruction Sites: Building new residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Existing Buildings: Working on renovations, maintenance, and repairs in finished buildings. Workshops: Some carpentry work, especially for fixtures and fittings, can be done in a workshop.
