Job Summary
Purchase Executive/Manager is responsible for sourcing materials, products, and services from overseas suppliers at optimal cost, quality, and delivery timelines. The role involves vendor development, import documentation coordination, compliance with international trade regulations, and close liaison with logistics, finance, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable overseas suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and contracts with international suppliers.
Prepare and process purchase orders in compliance with company policies.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHA, and logistics partners for timely imports.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of import documentation (Invoice, Packing List, BL/AWB, COO, etc.).
Monitor shipment status and resolve delays, discrepancies, or claims.
Ensure compliance with import-export regulations, customs laws, and DGFT guidelines.
LC knowledge, advance payments, remittances, and vendor reconciliation.
Maintain supplier performance records, pricing databases, and purchase MIS reports.
Analyze market trends, currency fluctuations, and global sourcing opportunities.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of international procurement and import procedures
Understanding of Incoterms, HS codes, customs clearance, and trade compliance
Negotiation and vendor management skills
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and procurement software
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, International Business, Supply Chain, or related field
Certification in Import–Export Management (preferred)
Experience
2–5 years of experience in international purchasing or import procurement
Experience in manufacturing / engineering / trading industry preferred
