Job Profile: Laundry Manager
The Laundry Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end laundry operations within the retail factory. This includes managing staff, ensuring quality standards, maintaining machinery, optimizing costs, and meeting production targets while following health, safety, and compliance guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
Supervise the entire laundry process – sorting, washing, dry-cleaning, finishing, and packing.
Plan and allocate daily workloads to meet production schedules.
Ensure proper handling of fabrics to avoid damage or shrinkage.
Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for efficiency.
2. Staff Supervision & Training
Lead a team of laundry workers, operators, and helpers.
Conduct training on machine handling, stain removal, and garment care.
Monitor staff performance, assign shifts, and handle grievance issues.
3. Machine & Equipment Maintenance
Oversee the operation of washing machines, DC machine, dryers, steam presses, boilers, spotting machines etc.
Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with the technical team.
Ensure calibration of machines to optimize chemical, water, and energy usage.
4. Quality Control
Inspect garments at different stages to ensure stain-free, damage-free, and neatly finished output.
Maintain customer brand standards for color, texture, and finish.
Address quality complaints and implement corrective measures.
5. Cost & Inventory Management
Control consumption of detergents, chemicals, water, and energy.
Maintain stock of laundry consumables and raise purchase requests.
Monitor wastage and work towards cost efficiency.
6. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with factory rules, labor laws, and hygiene standards.
Implement fire safety, chemical handling, and waste disposal protocols.
Maintain records for audits and inspections.
7. Customer & Retail Coordination
Liaise with the retail team for order requirements, delivery timelines, and special garment care instructions.
Handle escalations from retail outlets or customers.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production and performance reports for management.
Skills & Competencies Required
