Mechanical draughtsman

The Draftsman will be responsible for preparing, updating, and maintaining accurate 2D and 3D design drawings for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing), construction, and railway projects. This role involves close coordination with the design and site teams to ensure that all drawings reflect actual site conditions and are compliant with technical standards and project specifications. Key Responsibilities & Role 1. Drawing Preparation & Detailing  Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, layouts, and schematics for MEP and electrical systems using AutoCAD and Revit software.  Ensure drawings are accurate, clear, and aligned with project requirements and client specifications.  Generate single-line diagrams (SLD), cable schedules, power distribution, and section drawings. 2. Design Coordination & Revisions  Incorporate design changes based on inputs from site engineers, clients, and project teams.  Ensure drawings are updated to reflect modifications and approved revisions.  Maintain revision control and ensure updated drawings are issued to the concerned teams. As-Built Drawings & Documentation  Prepare as-built drawings after project completion and ensure accuracy as per final site execution.  Maintain drawing records and documentation for submission to clients and consultants.  Organize and archive drawing files for future reference and audits. 4. BOQ & Material Layout Support  Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and layout-based material estimations from design drawings.  Coordinate with procurement teams for technical clarifications related to designbased quantities. 5. Drawing Verification & Quality Check  Cross-check dimensions, notations, and drawing symbols for compliance with IS (Indian Standards) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) norms.  Perform quality checks on drawings to maintain accuracy, consistency, and technical integrity. 6. MEP & Railway Project Drawings  Prepare MEP coordination drawings integrating electrical, structural, and architectural layouts.  Develop Overhead Equipment Layouts (OHE), Structural Erection Drawings (SED), and Cross-Section Drawings (CSD) based on site data and engineering inputs.  Collaborate with field teams to collect site measurements such as Track Center, mast-to-mast spans, and foundation details. 7. Project Coordination & Communication  Coordinate with engineers, site supervisors, and project managers for technical drawing inputs and clarifications.  Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal design teams for seamless execution. Filing & Record Keeping  Maintain an organized digital and physical archive of approved, revised, and asbuilt drawings.  Ensure drawing numbering, version control, and log sheets are properly maintained. Day-to-Day Activities  Prepare and update AutoCAD/Revit design drawings as per project requirements.  Review and revise drawings based on site feedback or design corrections.  Print, distribute, and issue controlled copies of drawings to relevant departments.  Maintain revision logs, drawing registers, and numbering systems.  Support site teams by interpreting design layouts and providing clarifications.  Assist Sr. Design Engineer and Project Manager in design deliverables and documentation. Qualifications Education: • Diploma / ITI in Draftsmanship (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil) – Mandatory. • Preferred: Certification in AutoCAD / Revit / Design Software. Experience: • 3–6 years of experience in MEP / railway / construction / electromechanical projects. • Experience in preparing as-built and coordination drawings preferred. Technical Skills: • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Revit, and MS Office. • Strong understanding of MEP systems, SLDs, and drawing standards. • Knowledge of tools, commands, scaling, and modifications in AutoCAD/Revit. Skills & Competencies  Strong drafting skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.  Good understanding of electrical and MEP layouts and coordination.  Ability to visualize and convert field requirements into design format.  Excellent communication and coordination skills with engineers and clients.  Organized, disciplined, and deadline-oriented approach.  Ability to work both independently and in team environments.
