A Horticulture Engineer is responsible for applying engineering principles and horticultural science to cultivate, manage, and improve the production of fruits, vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, and landscaping projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, and manage horticultural projects such as nurseries, gardens, greenhouses, orchards, and landscaping.
Monitor plant growth and recommend appropriate irrigation, fertilization, and pest management practices.
Design and implement irrigation systems and protected cultivation structures (greenhouses, polyhouses, shade nets).
Conduct soil testing and recommend suitable crops and soil improvement measures.
Supervise planting, harvesting, pruning, and post-harvest handling activities.
Ensure compliance with quality standards, environmental regulations, and safety procedures.
Maintain records of crop production, plant health, and project progress.
Coordinate with farmers, contractors, suppliers, and government agencies.
Research and implement modern horticultural technologies to improve productivity and sustainability.
Train workers on horticultural best practices and equipment operation.
Preferred Experience
3–5 years of experience in horticulture, landscaping, greenhouse operations, nursery management, or agricultural projects.
Experience with protected cultivation, drip irrigation, or precision farming is an advantage.
