Civil draughtsman

Job Summary

The Civil Draftsman will assist civil engineers and project teams by preparing detailed 2D drawings, plans, and layouts for various civil engineering and construction projects. The role involves using CAD software and following engineering standards to produce accurate technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare 2D drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.

• Convert sketches, specifications, and instructions from engineers into accurate technical drawings.

• Assist in preparing site layout plans, structural drawings, road/utility drawings, and as-built drawings.

• Update and revise existing drawings based on engineer feedback or site changes.

• Maintain drawing files, documentation, and version control.

• Coordinate with engineers, architects, and site teams to ensure accuracy of designs.

• Ensure drawings follow company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.

• Perform basic quantity take-offs, dimensioning, and detailing as required.

• Support senior CAD operators or engineers in day-to-day drafting tasks.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of civil drafting and construction drawings.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting).

• Understanding of civil engineering basics (levels, coordinates, dimensions).

• Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches and plans.

• Good attention to detail and accuracy.

• Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word).

• Good communication and teamwork skills.
