AutoCAD Designer

Key responsibilities

• Design and modeling: Create and modify 2D and 3D models for products, tooling, and fixtures using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

• Technical drawings: Generate precise and accurate technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for manufacturing.

• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, production staff, and other departments to ensure designs are functional, cost-effective, and manufacturable.

• Quality control: Ensure designs adhere to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Design review and modification: Participate in design reviews, implement necessary modifications based on feedback, and perform feasibility studies.

• Documentation: Maintain and organize design files, documentation, and revision history. 

Required qualifications and skills

• Software proficiency: Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 2D drafting and 3D modeling.

• Mechanical knowledge: Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes (like sheet metal fabrication or machining), and materials.

• Attention to detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to ensure dimensional accuracy.

• Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with teams and understand requirements.

• Problem-solving: Ability to visualize concepts and solve design challenges.

• Education: Typically requires a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Experience: Experience in mechanical design, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment, is often required.
