We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Solar AutoCAD Designer to create precise technical drawings and layouts for residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar PV systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in solar system design, understand electrical and structural considerations, and be proficient in AutoCAD and solar-specific design tools.
Create accurate 2D and 3D drawings of solar PV systems using AutoCAD and related software.
Develop layout plans, roof plans, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and structural attachment details.
Interpret site survey data, architectural drawings, and structural blueprints to design PV systems.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and installers to ensure designs meet code, safety, and performance standards.
Prepare permitting and construction-ready drawing sets.
Revise drawings based on feedback, code updates, or site changes.
Ensure compliance with NEC, AHJ requirements, and utility guidelines.
Assist in estimating materials and reviewing BOMs as needed.
Proven experience as a CAD Designer or Drafter, preferably in the solar or electrical industry.
Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with HelioScope, PVsyst, Aurora Solar, or other PV design tools is a plus.
Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), especially as it relates to PV systems.
Understanding of electrical schematics, structural details, and roof layouts.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
NABCEP certification or other relevant credentials.
Experience working with local permitting authorities and utility interconnection requirements.
Knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools.
