Job Summary
The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating innovative and functional designs for aluminum doors, windows, and other fenestration products. This role involves collaborating with architects, clients, and internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet technical, aesthetic, and performance requirements. The ideal candidate will have expertise in CAD software, a strong understanding of aluminum fenestration systems, and a passion for delivering architectural excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Design Development: Create detailed 2D and 3D designs for aluminum doors, windows, sliding systems, bi-folding doors, and other fenestration products using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Technical Drawings: Prepare shop drawings, cutting lists, and material take-offs (MTO) to support fabrication and installation processes.
• Customization: Work closely with clients and architects to develop customized fenestration solutions that align with project specifications, including size, style, and finish preferences.
• Product Innovation: Collaborate with the R&D team to innovate and improve product designs, focusing on durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal.
• Material Selection: Specify appropriate aluminum profiles, glass thicknesses (6mm to 25mm), and hardware systems (e.g., multi-point locking, EPDM gaskets) to ensure product performance and compliance with standards.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure designs meet industry standards for safety, security, insulation, and environmental performance (e.g., resistance to wind loads, noise, and heat).
• Project Coordination: Coordinate with production, fabrication, and installation teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs and timely project delivery.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of design specifications, revisions, and project progress for internal reviews and client submissions.
• Sustainability: Incorporate eco-friendly and recyclable materials into designs to align with Alfen’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in designing aluminum fenestration systems or similar architectural products. Experience in the building materials or construction industry is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
o Knowledge of aluminum fabrication techniques, extrusion processes, and coating technologies (e.g., anodized, powder coating, PVDF).
o Familiarity with fenestration hardware, such as multi-point locking systems, rollers, and hinges.
• Soft Skills:
o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work with clients, architects, and cross-functional teams.
o Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs.
• Additional Requirements:
o Understanding of industry standards for fenestration products (e.g., thermal insulation, wind load resistance).
o Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
o Willingness to travel within India for project site visits, if required.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Revit) for 3D design integration.
• Knowledge of structural glazing, curtain walls, or ACP cladding systems.
• Familiarity with project management tools for tracking design and production schedules.
