Senior Accountant manages complex accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate and compliant with standards; key duties include preparing financial statements, general ledger oversight, account reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, auditing, and often mentoring junior staff, requiring strong analytical skills, Excel proficiency, and knowledge of GAAP/tax regulations. They act as a bridge between accounting staff and management, analyzing financial data to support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, analyze variances, and provide insights to management.
General Ledger & Reconciliation: Oversee and perform complex reconciliations, ensuring ledger accuracy.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax laws (like TDS/TCS in India).
Process Improvement: Identify and implement ways to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes and internal controls.
Auditing Support: Assist with internal and external audits, preparing documentation and coordinating tasks.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Support budget development and financial planning.
Mentorship: Train and guide junior accounting team members.
Tax Compliance: Handle filings for GST, TDS, and other relevant taxes.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Experience with fixed assets and depreciation.
CPA or other certifications are often preferred.
