Job Description – Senior Accountant

Position: Senior Accountant

Department: Accounts & Finance

Location: Municipal Corporation, Karnal

Reporting To: Finance Manager / Director

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

2. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

3. Handle TDS, GST, income tax compliance, and other statutory filings.

4. Perform bank reconciliation, vendor reconciliation, and customer reconciliation.

5. Oversee payroll entries, expense records, and employee reimbursements.

6. Ensure timely closing of books and accuracy in financial reporting.

7. Coordinate with auditors for internal and external audits.

8. Monitor cash flow, maintain financial records, and ensure proper documentation.

9. Supervise junior accountants and support them in daily tasks.

10. Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making.

11. Maintain and improve internal control systems and accounting policies.

12. Prepare MIS reports and assist in budgeting and forecasting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.

• Proven work experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.

• Expertise in Tally / ERP software and MS Excel.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.

• Strong communication and team-handling ability.

• Preferred Experience:

• Experience with tax compliance (TDS/GST).

• Experience in audit coordination and financial reporting.

• Knowledge of payroll processing and vendor management.
