Senior Accountant

jewelry accountant is responsible for managing a jewelry business's financial records, including tasks like tracking inventory, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, and ensuring tax compliance, particularly with GST and TDS. Key responsibilities include inventory valuation, cost accounting for pricing strategies, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. The role requires proficiency in accounting software like Tally, strong analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail. 

Core responsibilities

• Inventory management: Track, value, and reconcile inventory, a critical component of the jewelry business.

• Financial record-keeping: Maintain accurate general ledgers, process all financial transactions, and perform bank reconciliations.

• Accounts payable and receivable: Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and customer invoices.

• Financial reporting: Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and other reports for management.

• Taxation: Handle tax preparation, including GST and TDS returns, and ensure compliance with all tax laws.

• Cost and expense management: Monitor and control expenses, analyze trends, and support pricing strategies through cost accounting.

• Budgeting and forecasting: Create budgets and forecasts to help manage cash flow and optimize financial performance. 

Required skills and qualifications

• Education: A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is typical, with a CA or ICWA qualification being a plus.

• Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience, with experience in jewelry accounting preferred.

• Software proficiency: Expertise in accounting software like Tally and jewelry-specific software is essential.

• Technical skills: Strong knowledge of advanced Excel features (e.g., PivotTables, Power Query) is highly valuable.

• Analytical skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are required to interpret financial data and identify trends.
