Purchase Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Purchase Manager with deep technical and commercial expertise in the solar energy sector. In this role, you will lead the procurement lifecycle for solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, inverters, mounting structures, cables, BOS (Balance of System) components, and other EPC-related materials.

The ideal candidate will combine strong vendor negotiation skills, supply chain management experience, and a thorough understanding of solar technology trends, quality standards, and global logistics to ensure cost-effective and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies for solar equipment (Tier-1 PV modules, string/central inverters, trackers, etc.).

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable global and domestic manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers.

• Cost Negotiation & Contract Management:

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, and service-level agreements (SLAs) with vendors to secure optimal commercial terms without compromising quality.

  • Draft, review, and finalize procurement contracts, purchase orders (POs), and master service agreements (MSAs) in coordination with the legal team.

• Technical Evaluation & Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with the engineering and project teams to review technical specifications, datasheets, and compliance standards (e.g., IEC, BIS, UL).

  • Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT), pre-dispatch inspections (PDI), and ensure adherence to stringent quality control measures.

• Supply Chain & Logistics Management:

  • Manage end-to-end logistics, shipping, customs clearance, warehousing, and domestic transportation of heavy solar infrastructure.

  • Mitigate supply chain risks, monitor market volatility (raw material costs like polysilicon, steel, copper), and maintain buffer stocks for critical components.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Project Management, Finance, and Engineering departments to align procurement schedules with project execution timelines and cash flow budgets.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. (An MBA or post-graduation in Supply Chain is a strong plus).

• Experience:

  • Minimum [X] to [Y] years of proven procurement/supply chain experience, with at least [Z] years specifically in the solar energy industry (Utility-scale, C&I, or Rooftop solar).

  • Demonstrated track record of managing high-value procurement contracts for solar projects.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • In-depth technical understanding of solar components, technologies (Mono PERC, TOPCon, HJT, Bifacial modules), and current market pricing trends.

  • Familiarity with international and national standards (IEC, BIS, MNRE guidelines, etc.).

• Skills:

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
