Job Summary:
The Finance Controller will oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for retail operations. This role ensures effective cost control, accurate financial management, and compliance with audit and statutory requirements while monitoring store-level performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting & Financial Planning
Prepare annual and quarterly budgets for all retail stores.
Forecast revenues, expenses, and cash flows to support business goals.
Analyze financial trends to support management decision-making.
2. Financial Control & Reporting
Monitor store-level Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and identify variances.
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and MIS.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing activities.
3. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Track daily and monthly cash flow across store operations.
Ensure proper fund allocation for store operations and vendor payments.
Optimize working capital utilization.
4. Cost Control & Margin Analysis
Analyze store-level costs, margins, and profitability.
Recommend strategies to improve cost efficiency and gross margins.
Monitor shrinkage, wastage, and operational expenses.
5. Compliance & Audit
Ensure timely internal and statutory audits.
Maintain compliance with accounting standards, taxation, and company policies.
Implement internal financial controls across all retail stores.
6. Team Coordination & Support
Collaborate with store managers, procurement, and HR teams for financial alignment.
Guide the accounting team on data accuracy and reporting standards.
Support management with financial insights for expansion and business planning.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Deep understanding of retail financial operations, P&L management, and cost control.
Expertise in accounting, taxation, and financial reporting.
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and accounting software (e.g., Tally, Zoho Books).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) preferred.
5–10 years of experience in finance and accounts, with at least 3 years in retail operations.
Proven experience in budgeting, audit management, and financial control for multi-store operations.
