ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Team Lead – Accounting & Administration for our international back-office operations in India.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and ensuring the quality of accounting activities performed by a team of staff.
In the initial phase, the Team Lead is expected to be hands-on and actively involved in operational accounting work.
As the organization and workload grow, the role will gradually transition into a fully supervisory and control-focused position, once the combined responsibilities no longer fit within a single full-time position (1 FTE).
All accounting activities are performed in accordance with Dutch accounting and tax legislation and must be fully documented and traceable in the workflow system OFSO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Coordination
• Lead and supervise a team of accounting professionals
• Plan, allocate, and monitor daily and periodic workloads
• Coach, guide, and develop team members
• Act as the first escalation point for accounting or process-related questions
Operational Accounting (Initial Phase)
• Processing purchase and sales invoices
• Performing and reviewing bank postings and bank reconciliations
• Monitoring general ledger and suspense accounts
• Supporting proper client file and dossier formation
Quality Control & Review
• Review accounting work performed by team members
• Apply the four-eyes principle
• Identify and correct errors or inconsistencies
• Ensure accurate trial balances and reconciliations
VAT & Annual Accounts
• Prepare and/or review Dutch VAT returns
• Ensure reconciliation between accounting records, VAT returns, and balance sheets
• Prepare and review annual accounts files (no statutory final signing)
• Ensure timely and complete delivery of files to the Netherlands
Documentation, Compliance & OFSO
• Ensure all activities are registered in OFSO
• Maintain a complete and auditable trail of work performed
• Monitor deadlines, workload, and compliance
• Report on progress, risks, and capacity limits
• Contribute to process improvement and standardization
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education (Mandatory)
• Master of Commerce (M.Com)
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Professional Experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
• Experience in a supervisory or coordinating role
• Experience with international clients or Dutch accounting systems is an advantage
Skills & Knowledge
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, VAT, and financial statements
• Experience with accounting software and digital documentation
• Experience with workflow systems such as OFSO is a plus
• Excellent command of English (Dutch is an advantage)

• Article 52 – Dutch General Tax Act (AWR): Administration and 7-year retention obligation
• Article 2:10 – Dutch Civil Code (BW): Statutory bookkeeping requirements
• Article 3:15i – Dutch Civil Code (BW): Electronic administration requirements
• Dutch VAT Act 1968 (Articles 31–37): Timely and correct VAT filings
• Book 2, Title 9 – Dutch Civil Code: Annual financial statements requirements
ROLE EVOLUTION NOTICE
This position is designed to evolve. When the combined responsibilities of leadership, review, and operational work exceed the capacity of 1 FTE, tasks will be redistributed and the Team Lead role will transition to a fully supervisory position.
