Position: Accountant – UAE & India Operations
Role Summary
The Accountant will maintain accurate books of accounts for the company’s UAE and Indian operations, manage invoicing, collections, supplier payments, banking, payroll, reconciliations and management reporting. The Accountant will also coordinate with auditors, tax consultants and company management to ensure timely compliance with UAE and Indian statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
Maintain separate and accurate books of accounts for UAE and Indian entities.
Record all income, expenses, assets, liabilities and intercompany transactions. Prepare invoices, proforma invoices, debit notes, credit notes and statements of account.
Maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable ageing reports.
Reconcile bank accounts, customer accounts, supplier accounts and petty cash. Maintain fixed-asset registers and calculate depreciation.
Prepare project-wise and company-wise profitability reports.
Maintain proper digital and physical supporting documents.
Assist management with budgeting and financial planning.
Receivables and Payables
Follow up with customers for outstanding payments.
Provide management with a weekly collection-status report.
Verify supplier invoices against approvals, contracts and supporting documents. Prepare payment schedules according to approved credit terms.
Ensure no payment is processed without proper authorization.
Reconcile customer and supplier balances every month.
UAE Accounting and Compliance
Maintain accounting records according to UAE requirements.
Prepare UAE VAT workings and supporting schedules.
Ensure VAT invoices comply with UAE tax-invoice requirements.
Monitor input and output VAT and reconcile them with the books.
Assist with UAE Corporate Tax calculations and recordkeeping.
Coordinate with tax consultants for VAT and Corporate Tax return submissions.
Assist with payroll and WPS-related documentation.
Maintain documents required by the UAE Federal Tax Authority.
Assist with audits and regulatory inspections.
India Accounting and Compliance
Maintain accounting records according to Indian requirements.
Prepare GST calculations and reconcile sales, purchases and input tax credit. Reconcile GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B with the accounting records.
Calculate applicable TDS and maintain deduction and payment schedules.
Coordinate with the CA or tax consultant for GST, TDS and Income Tax filings.
Assist with payroll, professional tax, PF and ESI compliance, where applicable. Maintain supporting schedules required for statutory and tax audits.
Assist with ROC/MCA compliance by providing accounts and supporting information. Prepare customer and supplier reconciliations, including GST-related differences.
Banking and Cash Management
Prepare bank-payment entries and supporting documents.
Perform weekly bank reconciliations for all UAE and Indian bank accounts.
Monitor daily cash and bank balances. Prepare a weekly cash-flow forecast.
Maintain records for foreign currency transactions and exchange differences.
Properly account for transfers between UAE and Indian entities.
Ensure intercompany transactions have suitable invoices, agreements and approvals. Report unusual or unauthorized transactions immediately.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce. Minimum three years of accounting experience.
Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax.
Working knowledge of Indian GST, TDS and basic Income Tax compliance.
Experience with Tally Prime and UAE accounting software such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks or similar.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Experience with multicurrency and intercompany accounting.
Shipping, marine services, logistics or international-trade experience is preferred. Ability to coordinate independently with auditors, CAs and tax consultants.
Good English communication; knowledge of Hindi or Gujarati is an advantage.
Important: The Accountant should prepare the workings and maintain the records, while statutory returns should be reviewed and filed by the company’s appointed CA or tax consultant unless the Accountant is specifically qualified and authorised to file them.
