Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant with strong experience in inventory accounting, stock management, reconciliation, and balance sheet preparation. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring inventory and stock movements, reconciling physical and book stock, and supporting the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory & Stock Accounting
Maintain accurate accounting records for raw materials, packing materials, WIP, finished goods, and consumables.
Record and verify all purchase, material receipt, issue, transfer, return, and stock adjustment transactions.
Monitor stock valuation and ensure proper accounting of inventory.
Regularly reconcile physical stock with book/system stock and investigate discrepancies.
Coordinate with Stores, Purchase, Production, and Dispatch departments for stock-related transactions.
Monitor inventory ageing, slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete stock.
Verify stock consumption against BOM and production records wherever applicable.
Ensure proper accounting treatment for stock shortages, excesses, wastage, scrap, and adjustments.
Assist in conducting periodic physical stock verification and stock audits.
2. Balance Sheet & Financial Reporting
Prepare and maintain schedules for Balance Sheet items, including:
Inventory
Trade Payables
Trade Receivables
Advances
Fixed Assets
Loans and Borrowings
Statutory Liabilities
Other Current Assets and Liabilities
Assist in preparation of monthly and annual Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements.
Perform monthly ledger scrutiny and ensure accurate classification of expenses, assets, and liabilities.
Prepare account reconciliations and ensure outstanding balances are properly supported.
Identify and rectify accounting discrepancies before month-end closing.
Support auditors during internal, statutory, and tax audits.
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Verify purchase invoices against Purchase Orders, GRNs, and supporting documents.
Maintain vendor ledgers and conduct regular vendor reconciliation.
Monitor customer outstanding balances and assist in collection follow-up.
Ensure timely recording of invoices, credit notes, debit notes, and other accounting transactions.
4. GST, TDS & Statutory Compliance
Assist in GST accounting, reconciliation, and return-related activities.
Assist in TDS calculation, accounting, reconciliation, and compliance.
Ensure proper accounting of statutory liabilities and payments.
Coordinate with consultants/auditors for GST, TDS, and other statutory matters.
5. MIS & Management Reporting
Prepare regular reports related to:
Stock position
Inventory valuation
Stock variance
Purchase and consumption
Payables and receivables
Outstanding expenses
Balance Sheet schedules
Provide accurate financial and inventory data to management for decision-making.
Highlight major stock variances, unusual transactions, and financial discrepancies.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Inventory Accounting and Stock Management.
Good understanding of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts.
Knowledge of manufacturing accounting will be highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of ledger scrutiny and reconciliation.
Good understanding of GST and TDS.
Proficiency in MS Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and reconciliation techniques.
Experience with ERP/accounting software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualification & Experience
Qualification: B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter or equivalent.
Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Candidates with strong experience in inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and Balance Sheet preparation will be preferred.
