Job Title: Accountant – Travel Industry

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team in the travel and tourism industry. The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, processing transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of travel industry accounting (such as supplier payments, commissions, BSP/IATA reporting), and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update daily accounting records, ledgers, and financial statements.

• Handle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including reconciliation with travel suppliers, airlines, hotels, and agents.

• Process BSP/IATA reports, airline ticket sales, and commission reconciliations.

• Monitor and reconcile credit card transactions, online payment gateways, and refunds.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Manage payroll, expense reports, and employee reimbursements.

• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (VAT, GST, TDS, etc.) and file returns on time.

• Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain cash flow reports.

• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.

• Provide financial insights and cost control measures to management for decision-making.

• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for travel operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CA/CMA is a plus).

• Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in the travel, tourism, or hospitality sector.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and taxation.

• Familiarity with BSP/IATA reporting, travel agency operations, and supplier reconciliations.

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

• Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

• Office-based with occasional interaction with travel suppliers and partners.

• Full-time role; may require extended hours during reporting/audit periods.
