Accountant

Responsibilities

• Manage and process all financial transactions, from accounts payable and receivable to bank deposits and expense tracking.

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.

• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings to ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.

• Conduct internal audits and reconcile bank statements to identify and resolve discrepancies.

• Compute taxes and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.

• Prepare budget forecasts and assist management in financial planning and decision-making.

• Serve as a point of contact for internal and external auditors and assist with year-end close activities.

• Maintain the confidentiality of financial information and ensure data security. 

Requirements and skills

• Education and certification: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is often required. Additional certifications like a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) may be preferred.

• Technical expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.

• Essential skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.

  • Experience with general ledger functions and financial reporting.
