Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant will oversee centralised accounting and financial control for all branches of the jewellery business, ensuring accurate books of accounts, effective control over gold and cash movement, statutory compliance, and timely MIS reporting to management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Centralised Accounting & Finalisation
Manage centralised accounting for all branches through Tally / Jewellery ERP.
Review and verify branch-wise sales, purchases, expenses, and journal entries.
Finalise monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts for the organisation.
Prepare consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
Monitor inter-branch accounting and reconciliations.
2. Multi-Branch Inventory & Stock Control
Control and monitor branch-wise stock of gold, silver, diamonds, and stones.
Track purity-wise stock (22K, 18K, etc.), wastage, melting, and conversions across branches.
Oversee inter-branch stock transfers, approvals, and accounting entries.
Ensure daily / periodic physical stock reconciliation at each branch.
Review discrepancies and coordinate with branch heads for resolution.
3. Job Work & Karigar Accounting (Central Control)
Monitor gold issue and receipt to/from karigars for all branches.
Ensure adherence to approved wastage percentages and job work agreements.
Reconcile labour charges, gold balances, and wastage on a branch-wise basis.
Control and verify old gold purchase, refining, and exchange transactions.
4. GST & Statutory Compliance – Multi-Branch
Prepare and file consolidated GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B).
Perform branch-wise GSTR-2B reconciliation and ITC follow-up.
Ensure correct GST accounting for inter-branch transfers, job work, and repairs.
Handle TDS compliance for vendors, karigars, and service providers.
Coordinate GST audits, Income Tax audits, and departmental assessments for all branches.
Ensure compliance under Kerala Shops & Commercial Establishments Act for HO and branches.
5. Billing, Cash & Revenue Control
Oversee branch billing controls, rate approvals, discounts, and schemes.
Verify daily cash, UPI, card, and bank collections branch-wise.
Monitor high-value transactions and ensure Income Tax compliance.
Review sales returns, credit notes, and adjustments.
6. Vendor, Branch & Inter-Unit Reconciliation
Maintain and reconcile vendor and karigar ledgers centrally.
Monitor branch-wise outstanding balances and payment schedules.
Reconcile inter-branch balances and suspense accounts.
Coordinate with branch managers for timely closure of discrepancies.
7. MIS, Internal Controls & Management Reporting
Prepare branch-wise and consolidated MIS reports on:
Sales & margins
Stock movement & ageing
Wastage & making charges
Receivables & payables
Implement and strengthen internal control systems across branches.
Support management in pricing decisions, margin control, and cost optimisation.
Provide reports and analysis during festive seasons and peak sales periods.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in multi-branch jewellery accounting
Excellent control over gold inventory, inter-branch transfers, and reconciliation
In-depth knowledge of GST for jewellery business in Kerala
Proficiency in Tally / Jewellery ERP systems
Leadership and coordination skills with branch teams
High integrity and attention to detail
Should be able to handle a team of Junior Accountants.
Working Conditions
Head Office role with regular coordination with branches
Requires almost daily travel to branches for audits and stock verification and streamlining the process.
