Steward

Job Summary:

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in all kitchen and back-of-house areas. This includes cleaning dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, supporting chefs and service staff, and ensuring that sanitation and safety standards are met at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, and pans.

• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces.

• Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishwashing areas at all times.

• Assist in garbage disposal and recycling as per company procedures.

• Handle all kitchen equipment carefully to avoid damage.

• Support kitchen staff with basic tasks during busy service periods (e.g., fetching items, restocking).

• Ensure all cleaning and sanitizing duties are performed according to hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).

• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene policies and report any issues immediately.

• Assist in setting up kitchen areas for events or service as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous experience as a steward, dishwasher, or cleaner in a hospitality or food service environment is an advantage.

• Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.

• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 kg (50 lbs).

• Comfortable working in hot, humid, and wet environments.
