JOB DESCRIPTION
Name of the position: Materials Manager
Job Function
Develop and implement material management strategies aligned with solar project requirements and timelines.
Oversee the end-to-end procurement process for solar components (e.g., panels, inverters, cables, mounting structures) ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition.
Manage the receipt, inspection, storage, and issuance of incoming and outgoing project materials and equipment, maintaining accurate documentation and traceability.
Coordinate with engineering and project management teams to forecast material needs and prevent shortages or excess inventory.
Maintain and optimize inventory levels across multiple project sites, ensuring compliance with safety, storage, and quality standards.
Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure optimal pricing, terms, and quality, and evaluate supplier performance based on delivery, quality, and cost.
Implement and utilize ERP or solar project management software to track inventory, forecast requirements, and generate real-time reports for all ongoing projects.
Lead process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and control material costs.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies governing material management and supply chain activities.
Collaborate with finance to manage budgets, track expenses, and report on cost savings initiatives.
Train and supervise materials management staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skillset Required
Materials Manager should have 3-5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, or procurement, preferably within the solar or renewable energy sector.
Proven experience in inventory control, vendor management, procurement, and logistics.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to forecast material requirements and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective supplier and team management.
Proficiency in supply chain management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education
The candidate should be Diploma/ Graduation / MBA in Business Administration or Supply chain management.
