Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control & Assurance:
o Oversee the inspection of sheet metal parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, weld quality, and compliance with engineering drawings.
o Ensure adherence to ISO/TS/IATF 16949, AS9100, or other relevant quality standards.
o Implement and monitor Quality Management Systems (QMS).
2. Process & Product Audits:
o Conduct process audits (e.g., VDA 6.3, Layered Process Audits - LPA) to ensure manufacturing consistency.
o Perform First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and MSA (Measurement System Analysis).
3. Defect Prevention & Root Cause Analysis:
o Lead 8D, 5Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), and Pareto Analysis for defect resolution.
o Work with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
4. Supplier & Incoming Quality:
o Evaluate supplier quality and conduct incoming material inspections.
o Address non-conformities with vendors and ensure timely corrective actions.
5. Testing & Validation:
o Oversee mechanical testing (tensile strength, hardness, bend tests) and visual inspections.
o Validate sheet metal parts for GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) compliance.
o Coordinate with third-party labs for material certifications (e.g., RoHS, REACH).
6. Documentation & Compliance:
o Maintain inspection reports, quality records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
o Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSR) and industry standards.
7. Team Leadership & Training:
o Train inspectors and operators on quality standards, measurement tools (CMM, micrometres, callipers), and SOPs.
o Drive a Zero-Defect Culture through continuous improvement (Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma).
8. Customer & Stakeholder Coordination:
o Liaise with customers for quality approvals and address complaints.
o Support new product development (NPD) by reviewing design feasibility (DFM/DFA).
Skills & Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelors in Mechanical/Production Engineering or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in sheet metal quality control, preferably in automotive.
• Technical Knowledge:
o Proficiency in GD&T, welding standards (AWS, ISO 3834), and metallurgy.
o Hands-on experience with CMM, optical comparators, and surface roughness testers.
o Familiarity with AutoCAD/SolidWorks for drawing reviews.
