Job Title: Turner (Lathe Work)

Department: Production / Mechanical Workshop
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Workshop Manager

Job Purpose:

To perform precision machining operations on conventional or CNC lathe machines for manufacturing and repairing mechanical components, ensuring high accuracy, quality, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate lathe machines (conventional / CNC) for turning, facing, threading, drilling, boring, tapering, and other machining operations.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.

• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements.

• Measure and inspect finished components using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.

• Ensure machining within specified tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.

• Perform regular machine maintenance and keep the workplace clean and safe.

• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet daily production targets.

• Record work details in job cards or production reports.

• Follow safety protocols and comply with company policies.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in operating lathe machines (manual / CNC).

• Knowledge of machining processes and tool selection.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerances.

• Skilled in using measuring instruments.

• Problem-solving and attention to detail.

• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance.

Qualification & Experience:

• ITI / Diploma in Turner / Machinist / Fitter or equivalent.

• 1–3 years of relevant work experience (freshers with ITI background may also be considered).
