Department: Production / Mechanical Workshop
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Workshop Manager
To perform precision machining operations on conventional or CNC lathe machines for manufacturing and repairing mechanical components, ensuring high accuracy, quality, and productivity.
Operate lathe machines (conventional / CNC) for turning, facing, threading, drilling, boring, tapering, and other machining operations.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and job requirements.
Measure and inspect finished components using vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
Ensure machining within specified tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.
Perform regular machine maintenance and keep the workplace clean and safe.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet daily production targets.
Record work details in job cards or production reports.
Follow safety protocols and comply with company policies.
Proficiency in operating lathe machines (manual / CNC).
Knowledge of machining processes and tool selection.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerances.
Skilled in using measuring instruments.
Problem-solving and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of machine maintenance.
ITI / Diploma in Turner / Machinist / Fitter or equivalent.
1–3 years of relevant work experience (freshers with ITI background may also be considered).
