The Optical Lens Cutter & Frame Fitter is responsible for accurately cutting, edging, and fitting optical lenses into eyeglass frames according to prescriptions. This role involves the use of manual and automated machinery to ensure precision and quality. The technician works closely with opticians and lab staff to deliver customized eyewear to customers.
Cut, grind, and edge prescription lenses (glass or plastic) using manual or automated lens edger machines.
Shape lenses to fit into various frame styles, including full-rim, half-rim, and rimless designs.
Mark optical centers and align lenses correctly as per prescription requirements (PD, axis, segment height).
Insert and secure lenses into frames using heat, pressure, and fitting tools.
Inspect finished eyeglasses for accuracy in power, alignment, and cosmetic quality.
Adjust and fine-tune frame fit to ensure proper alignment and lens placement.
Operate lab equipment including lens edgers, grooving machines, hand tools, and polishing units.
Maintain equipment, clean work area, and follow safety and quality protocols.
Keep accurate records of jobs processed, lens types, and fitting details.
