Job Title: Store Keeper – Infrastructure Projects (Metro Finishing & Foot Over Bridge)

Company Overview:
We are a reputed infrastructure development company engaged in the execution of urban mass transit systems such as metro finishing works, foot over bridges (FOBs), and other urban mobility infrastructure. Our projects are time-bound and involve large-scale procurement and controlled material handling. We are looking for a Store Keeper who can ensure effective management of materials, tools, and equipment at project sites.
Role Objective:
The Store Keeper will be responsible for receiving, issuing, maintaining, and safeguarding construction materials, tools, consumables, and plant & machinery at the site. The candidate must ensure inventory accuracy, timely reporting, and compliance with company procedures and audit norms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Material Receipt & Verification
Receive incoming materials and verify quantity, quality, and specifications against the Purchase Order (PO), Delivery Challan (DC), and Invoice.
Conduct physical checks for damages, shortages, or excess and raise discrepancy reports if required.
Coordinate with the QA/QC and procurement departments for technical checks and approvals.
2. Material Storage and Preservation
Arrange materials in the store in a systematic, tagged, and accessible manner based on type (cement, tiles, steel, fasteners, MEP items, consumables, etc.).
Ensure preservation of sensitive materials like adhesives, paints, electrical items, etc., as per manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain proper storage for tools, scaffolding components, lifting accessories, PPEs, and ensure calibration records (if applicable) are updated.
3. Material Issuance
Issue materials as per Material Requisition Slips (MRS) from site engineers or contractors, ensuring proper documentation.
Maintain strict control over the issue of free-issue items, high-value tools, and MEP consumables.
Track material movement and return of surplus or unused stock from various work fronts.
4. Inventory Management
Maintain accurate stock registers, both physical and in ERP/software systems (if used).
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliations, and report any variances.
Generate reports such as Material Inward Register, Issue Register, Stock Ledger, Minimum Stock Report, etc.
5. Coordination and Documentation
Coordinate with procurement, accounts, site engineers, and subcontractors regarding materials.
Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs), Returnable Gate Passes, and Non-returnable Gate Passes.
Ensure that invoices and receipts are forwarded timely to the accounts department for processing.
6. Compliance and Safety
Follow company SOPs and safety protocols while handling heavy or hazardous materials.
Ensure the store area is organized, clean, and compliant with safety and fire prevention norms.
Maintain a tool issue and return register with a focus on accountability and condition tracking.
7. Special Focus Areas (Metro/FOB Projects)
Familiarity with handling and issuing station finishing materials like aluminum panels, stainless steel handrails, glass panels, architectural fittings, tile adhesives, etc.
Understand project-critical components for foot over bridge works, such as bearings, bolts, epoxy grouts, and steel girders (tracked via contractor-supplied stores).
Ensure just-in-time (JIT) availability for fast-paced metro finishing sequences.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Education:
Graduate or Diploma (Any discipline)
Preferred: Certification in Inventory/Store Management or ERP systems
Experience:
Minimum 3–8 years of experience in construction/infrastructure projects
Prior experience in metro, railway, or highway infrastructure preferred
Hands-on experience with ERP-based inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Tally, BuildSmart) is an added advantage
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of construction material identification (civil & MEP items)
Well-versed in manual and computerized stock management
Ability to handle inward/outward registers, maintain GRNs, and prepare material reconciliation reports
Soft Skills:
Good communication skills to interact with suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams
Organizational and time-management abilities
Detail-oriented with strong recordkeeping and problem-solving abilities
Work Conditions:
Site-based position; may require work in open yards, godowns, and shifting material between multiple project locations
Must be physically fit to supervise loading/unloading and inspect incoming material
May involve extended working hours during peak activity periods
