Key Responsibilities of a Staff Nurse:
Patient Assessment and Care:
Conducts physical assessments to identify patient needs and problems.
Develops and implements individualized patient care plans.
Provides direct care to patients, including wound care, medication administration, and personal care.
Medication Administration and Monitoring:
Administers medications and monitors patients for side effects and reactions.
Records patient vital signs and other relevant information.
Patient Education and Support:
Educates patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
Provides emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
Record Keeping and Communication:
Maintains accurate and complete patient records.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Other Duties:
May supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or nursing assistants.
May be involved in quality improvement activities.
May assist with research projects.
