Reporting To: Staff Nurse / Ward In-charge
To assist nurses and healthcare staff in providing quality care to patients, ensuring their comfort, hygiene, and safety. GDAs play a vital supportive role in the smooth functioning of healthcare facilities.
Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
Support in lifting, shifting, and transferring patients from bed to wheelchair/stretcher and vice versa.
Provide bedpan/urinal assistance and maintain patient hygiene.
Help nurses in positioning patients for comfort and medical procedures.
Assist nursing staff during basic medical procedures.
Carry samples, medicines, and medical equipment within the hospital.
Ensure timely shifting of patients for diagnostic tests or surgeries.
Monitor patients’ basic comfort needs and report changes in condition to nurses/doctors.
Keep patient rooms, beds, and surroundings clean and organized.
Change bed sheets, pillow covers, and maintain ward cleanliness.
Dispose of biomedical and general waste as per hospital protocols.
Transport patient records, files, and supplies between departments.
Assist in maintaining inventory of linen, consumables, and medical supplies.
Escort patients and attendants as needed.
Compassionate and caring attitude towards patients.
Basic knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and infection control.
Physical stamina to handle long working hours and patient handling.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a healthcare team.
Good communication skills with patients and staff.
Minimum 10th pass.
Certificate course in General Duty Assistant (GDA) from a recognized institute (preferred).
Prior experience in hospitals/healthcare setups desirable but not mandatory.
