2. Key Responsibilities

• Carry out MIG / TIG / Arc welding operations as per job requirement.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, symbols, and welding specifications.

• Ensure proper joint preparation, alignment, and welding sequence.

• Perform visual inspection and self-checks before submitting for quality inspection.

• Maintain welding machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition.

• Follow WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and ensure weld quality as per QMS.

• Record daily production & welding parameters in log sheets.

• Handle material carefully and minimize rework/rejection.

• Comply with safety standards (PPE usage, fire prevention, ventilation).

• Support supervisors in training new welders or helpers.

3. Skills & Competencies Required

• Knowledge of welding processes: MIG, TIG, SMAW (Stick Welding).

• Ability to read engineering drawings & welding symbols.

• Good understanding of material properties (mild steel, stainless steel, sheet metal, etc.).

• Basic knowledge of quality checks (visual, dimensional, NDT if applicable).

• Safety-conscious and disciplined at workplace.

4. Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Diploma (Welding / Fitter / Fabrication) or equivalent.

• Minimum 2–5 years experience in welding (preferably in sheet metal / automobile industry).

• Certification in Welding (if any AWS/IS standard) will be preferred.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Weld quality (rejection/rework %).

• Adherence to welding parameters & WPS.

• Productivity & daily output.

• Compliance to safety norms.

• Machine & tool upkeep.
