Job Description: Paint Laboratory Trainee
Department: Research & Development (R&D)
Location: Mithila Paints PVT LTD Warehouse (Wadki) Pune
Job Type: Internship / Trainee
Experience Required: Fresher or up to 1 year of experience in laboratory work (preferably paint/chemical industry)
Internship Period : 3 Months
Stipend Amount: Rs.5000 to 10000
Educational Qualification: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Paint Technology or relevant discipline
Objective:
To support the R&D team in conducting paint formulation trials, testing raw materials and finished products, and assisting in lab-scale experimentation to develop or improve paint products.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Formulation & Development
· Assist in developing new paint formulations under guidance.
· Support in modifying existing paint recipes to enhance performance or reduce cost.
· Accurately weigh and mix raw materials following standard procedures.
.Testing & Quality Evaluation
· Conduct physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished goods (viscosity, gloss, opacity, adhesion, drying time, etc.).
· Perform accelerated aging and durability tests (UV resistance, salt spray, etc.) on paint samples.
· Record test results in lab data sheets and report anomalies.
Raw Material & Batch Evaluation
· Test and compare alternative raw materials.
· Evaluate and validate batch-to-batch consistency of products.
Documentation & Reporting
· Maintain lab notebooks and ensure all trials, test results, and formulations are recorded.
· Assist in preparing technical reports and summaries for supervisors and management.
Lab Safety & Housekeeping
· Follow all safety protocols while handling chemicals and equipment.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory space and instruments.
· Ensure proper labelling and storage of chemicals.
Skills & Competencies:
· Basic knowledge of paints, resins, pigments, and additives.
· Understanding of laboratory instruments like viscometers, gloss meters, etc.
· Good observation and analytical skills.
· Ability to follow SOPs and work under supervision.
· Proficiency in MS Excel or lab management software (preferred).
· Strong sense of responsibility and accuracy.
