Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cable Laying Electrician responsible for installing, routing, terminating, and testing electrical cables (LT/HT/Control/Communication) at industrial, commercial, or infrastructure project sites. The role requires strong technical understanding, safety awareness, and hands‑on field experience in cable handling and laying activities.
Key Responsibilities
Cable Laying & Installation
Perform cable laying for LT/HT power cables, control cables, fiber optic cables, and communication lines.
Execute underground cable laying, including excavation, sand bedding, cable placement, protective covering, and backfilling.
Carry out cable tray installation, GI/AL/HDG trays, trunking, conduits, and supports.
Assist in pulling cables using manual or mechanical means (winch machines, rollers, socks, pulling grips).
Ensure correct cable dressing, identification, tagging, and glanding.
Termination & Jointing
Perform termination of power/control cables, including crimping, lugging, ferruling, and termination at panels, DBs, MCCs, and equipment.
Support jointing of cables, including heat‑shrink and cold‑shrink kits as per manufacturer standards.
Testing & Quality
Perform basic tests such as megger testing (IR test), continuity tests, loop checking, and insulation checks.
Assist engineers during pre‑commissioning & commissioning activities.
Ensure compliance with electrical standards, project specifications, and QA/QC requirements.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all electrical safety protocols, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO) procedures, and PPE usage.
Identify site hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
Maintain tools, tackles, and equipment in good working condition.
Documentation & Coordination
Maintain records of cables laid, routes, measurements, and material usage.
Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades for smooth workflow.
Support site reporting, material requisition, and work progress updates.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must‑Have Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of LT/HT cable installation, cable trays, conduits, and routing.
Experience in termination, glanding, crimping, and electrical panel connections.
Ability to read basic electrical drawings, cable schedules, and routing plans.
Familiarity with electrical testing instruments (multimeter, megger, clamp meter).
Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Electrician / Electrical Trade (preferred).
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in cable laying or electrical site work.
Other Requirements
Physically fit for field‑based work (lifting, pulling, climbing).
Ability to work at heights, confined spaces, and outdoor environments.
Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and project‑based schedules.
