Roles & Responsibilities:
Design, installation, testing, and commissioning of Fire Fighting Systems including Fire Hydrant, Sprinkler, and Pumping systems.
Supervision of erection & maintenance activities of fire hydrant pipelines, hose reels, landing valves, hydrant valves, and jockey/main pumps.
Ensure proper integration of Fire Alarm Systems with detectors, manual call points (MCPs), hooters, and control panels.
Preparation of BOQ, technical submittals, and drawings as per NFPA, IS codes, and local fire norms.
Coordination with consultants, contractors, and clients for project execution.
Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of fire hydrant & fire alarm systems.
Conducting testing & commissioning to ensure full working condition of fire safety equipment.
Maintaining proper documentation, checklists, and inspection reports.
Knowledge Required (System Working):
Fire Hydrant System Working:
Fire hydrant network is pressurized through main & jockey pumps.
In case of fire, hydrant valves are opened to draw water under pressure for firefighting.
Automatic pump start occurs when pressure drops in the pipeline.
Ensures continuous water supply from fire water storage tanks to hydrant points.
Fire Alarm System Working:
Fire alarm panel continuously monitors detectors (smoke/heat) and manual call points.
On detection of smoke/heat/fire, the system triggers hooters/sirens and sends signals to control room.
Can be interfaced with sprinkler & hydrant systems for auto pump start.
Provides early warning for evacuation and fire suppression action.
Qualifications & Skills:
B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of NFPA, IS, NBC standards.
Experience in fire fighting system design, installation, and maintenance.
Good communication & project coordination skills.
