Fleet Manager

Role Summary:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a company’s fleet of vehicles. This includes scheduling maintenance, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, managing driver performance, optimizing fuel usage, and ensuring that transport services run smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The Fleet Manager plays a crucial role in reducing downtime, improving vehicle lifespan, and increasing overall fleet productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fleet Operations Management:
  Manage day-to-day operations of the vehicle fleet, including dispatch, routing, and scheduling.

• Vehicle Maintenance:
  Schedule regular maintenance, repairs, and inspections to reduce breakdowns and ensure roadworthiness.

• Compliance and Documentation:
  Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with government regulations, safety standards, and licensing requirements.

• Driver Management:
  Monitor driver performance, safety, hours of service, and training requirements.

• Cost Control:
  Track and control operational expenses like fuel, maintenance, and tolls to reduce costs.

• Data Reporting & Analysis:
  Maintain and analyze fleet reports such as mileage, downtime, fuel usage, and repair costs to drive performance improvements.

• Route Optimization:
  Use software or manual planning to design efficient routes that save time and fuel.

• Asset Management:
  Maintain accurate inventory records of vehicles and equipment, including insurance and lease agreements.

• Emergency Handling:
  Respond to breakdowns, accidents, or logistical delays and ensure contingency plans are in place.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Management, or equivalent.

• 3–5 years of experience in fleet or logistics management (transportation industry preferred).

• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and transport regulations.

• Familiarity with fleet management systems and GPS tracking tools.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in MS Excel or fleet management software.

• Ability to handle pressure and make decisions quickly.
