Immigration Consultant

Key Responsibilities:

1. Application Processing & Evaluation

• Assess and review visa applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable immigration laws and policies.

• Evaluate supporting documents (e.g., passports, financial statements, employment letters, invitation letters, academic transcripts, etc.).

• Interview applicants (in-person, online, or via phone) to gather additional information or verify claims.

• Conduct background, medical, and security checks where required.

2. Visa Categories Handled

• Visitor Visas: Evaluate the purpose of travel, ties to home country, and ability to return.

• Student Visas: Verify enrollment, financial capacity, academic credentials, and intent to study.

• Work Visas: Assess job offers, labor market impact assessments, employer legitimacy, and qualifications.

• Permanent Residency Visas: Review eligibility under immigration programs (e.g., skilled worker, family reunification).

• Family & Spousal Visas: Authenticate relationships and assess genuineness.

• Refugee & Humanitarian Visas: Examine claims under humanitarian protection or asylum programs.

• Transit & Diplomatic Visas: Review special purpose entries.

3. Decision-Making

• Make final decisions or recommendations to approve or refuse visa applications.

• Draft detailed refusal letters outlining reasons for denial based on legal grounds.

4. Compliance & Security

• Identify potential fraud or misrepresentation and report to appropriate authorities.

• Liaise with security and intelligence agencies to manage high-risk applicants.

• Maintain strict confidentiality and data protection in accordance with law.

5. Client Service & Communication

• Provide clear and timely information to applicants and stakeholders about visa processes and requirements.

• Respond to inquiries via email, phone, or in person.

• Handle appeals or reapplications when applicable.

6. Administrative & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records in visa management systems.

• Prepare regular statistical and performance reports.

• Support audits, policy reviews, and workflow improvements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Law, Public Administration, or related field.

• Postgraduate or specialized training in immigration law is an asset.

Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in immigration, visa processing, or consular services.

• Experience with international law or public service is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

• Knowledge of immigration laws and international protocols.

• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Cultural awareness and sensitivity.

• Proficiency in visa processing systems and databases.

• Multilingual ability is an advantage (especially in official languages of the country).

Working Conditions:

• May involve international assignments or postings.

• May require work beyond normal hours, especially in peak seasons.
