We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Solar Engineer to design, evaluate, and implement photovoltaic (PV) solar power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of solar technologies, electrical and structural engineering principles, and applicable codes and regulations. This role involves collaboration with design teams, project managers, installers, and external stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and code-compliant solar energy systems.
Design and engineer solar PV systems (residential, commercial, or utility-scale).
Perform technical assessments and feasibility studies for new solar installations.
Develop detailed electrical single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and system specifications.
Perform system sizing, shading analysis, and energy production estimates using software like PVsyst, HelioScope, Aurora Solar, or SAM.
Ensure compliance with National Electric Code (NEC), UL, local AHJ codes, and utility interconnection requirements.
Coordinate with project managers, architects, structural engineers, and installers during design and construction phases.
Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Prepare and review engineering documents, submittals, permit packages, and interconnection applications.
Stay updated on new solar technologies, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
2–5+ years of experience in solar PV system engineering and design.
Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, HelioScope, Aurora Solar, or similar design tools.
Solid understanding of photovoltaic systems, inverters, racking, batteries, and BOS components.
Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, IEC, and UL standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or in progress.
NABCEP certification (PV Installation Professional or PV Technical Sales).
Experience in utility interconnection processes and permitting.
Knowledge of hybrid or off-grid systems, energy storage, and microgrid design.
