Job Summary:

We are looking for a friendly, efficient, and detail-oriented Supermarket Cashier to join our team. As the first point of contact for our customers, you will play a key role in ensuring a positive shopping experience by providing fast, accurate, and courteous checkout service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet customers warmly as they arrive at the checkout counter

• Operate cash register and POS system to process sales transactions accurately

• Handle cash, credit/debit card, and digital wallet payments

• Issue receipts, refunds, or exchanges as per store policies

• Assist customers with bagging groceries and handling delicate items with care

• Verify pricing and product information when needed

• Maintain cleanliness and order in the checkout area

• Report any discrepancies or equipment issues to the supervisor

• Follow all cash handling and safety procedures

• Support store staff with restocking shelves, returns, and other front-end tasks during off-peak times

• Ensure customer satisfaction through professional and courteous service

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Proven experience as a cashier or in customer service (retail or grocery preferred)

• Basic math skills and attention to detail

• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and common payment methods

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for long periods

• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required

• Trustworthy and reliable with a strong work ethic
