Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Monitor budgets, analyze variances, and prepare financial forecasts.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB standards, and relevant regulatory and environmental reporting requirements.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain fixed asset records and oversee depreciation schedules.
Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes.
Assist in rate studies, cost analysis, and financial modeling to support capital planning and operational efficiency.
Work with plant operations and engineering departments to track project costs and ensure budget alignment.
Develop and implement internal controls and accounting procedures.
Supervise junior accounting staff or clerks as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in utilities, public sector, or environmental services is a plus.
Strong understanding of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with municipal or utility accounting regulations is advantageous.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly and concisely.
Experience with public sector budgeting and grant reporting.
Knowledge of environmental and utility compliance standards.
