An Ocean & Air Pricing & Operations Specialist manages the pricing and operational aspects of both ocean and air freight forwarding. This role involves developing competitive pricing strategies, negotiating rates with carriers, managing the end-to-end logistics process for import and export shipments, and ensuring operational efficiency and compliance. They work to optimize costs, maintain strong relationships with vendors, and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing:
Developing and implementing pricing strategies for ocean and air freight, including containerized, breakbulk, and special cargo.
Analyzing market trends, competitor pricing, and industry developments to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
Negotiating rates and service agreements with shipping lines, airlines, and other vendors.
Preparing and submitting quotations for import and export shipments based on customer requirements and market conditions.
Maintaining and updating pricing databases with accurate freight rates, surcharges, and other relevant information.
Operations:
Managing the end-to-end logistics process for both import and export shipments, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and final delivery.
Coordinating with various parties, such as shipping lines, airlines, customs brokers, and other vendors, to ensure smooth and timely cargo movement.
Ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations, Incoterms, and customs requirements.
Monitoring shipment progress and proactively addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
Providing operational updates and support to customers and sales teams.
General:
Building and maintaining strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, and other vendors.
Contributing to the development of new business opportunities and process improvements.
Analyzing operational performance, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions.
Preparing reports on pricing and operational performance for management review.
Essential Skills:
Strong knowledge of ocean and air freight forwarding, including pricing strategies, international shipping regulations, and Incoterms.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
