Job Description: Fleet Manager – Logistics

Position: Fleet Manager
Department: Fleet & Transport Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, allocate, and manage drivers for trailers and other vehicles as per trip requirements.

• Monitor day-to-day fleet operations, ensuring vehicles are deployed on time.

• Ensure timely reporting of vehicles at loading/unloading points as per customer schedules.

• Maintain proper coordination with drivers, transport supervisors, and operations teams.

• Track vehicle movements (GPS, calls, or tracking systems) and provide real-time updates to customers/management.

• Ensure compliance with RTO regulations, permits, fitness, insurance, and documentation of all vehicles.

• Manage driver schedules, attendance, discipline, and performance.

• Handle driver issues, grievances, and provide necessary training/awareness on safety & compliance.

• Reduce vehicle idle time and ensure maximum utilization of fleet.

• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize breakdowns.

• Prepare and maintain MIS reports: vehicle deployment, trip performance, fuel consumption, delays, etc.

• Support cost optimization by monitoring fuel, tolls, and route efficiency.

• Strong knowledge of logistics, trailers, and fleet operations.

• Good leadership and people management skills for handling drivers.

• Proficiency in GPS tracking and fleet management software.

• Ability to handle pressure and ensure on-time deliveries.

• Problem-solving attitude with quick decision-making capability.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate / Diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or related field.

• 3–8 years of experience in fleet management, preferably in trailer/heavy vehicle operations.

• Strong network with drivers/operators will be an added advantage.
