A Steward in a bar and restaurant is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting both the front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations. Their primary focus is service execution, table setup, and assisting guests.
Welcome and seat guests courteously.
Present menus and daily specials.
Take accurate food and beverage orders.
Serve food and drinks professionally and on time.
Refill water, clear used plates, and reset tables promptly.
Respond to guest requests and anticipate their needs.
Prepare dining area before service (cutlery, glassware, napkins).
Maintain cleanliness of tables, chairs, and floors.
Ensure table settings follow restaurant standards.
Relay orders to kitchen/bar via POS or KOT (Kitchen Order Ticket) system.
Coordinate with kitchen staff for timely delivery of food.
Ensure correct dishes/drinks are delivered to the right tables.
Assist bartenders by fetching ingredients or garnishes.
Serve mocktails/cocktails to guests if assigned.
Maintain cleanliness of bar counters and high tables.
Follow hygiene protocols (personal grooming, food handling).
Maintain FSSAI-compliant cleanliness around service stations.
Handle glassware and crockery carefully to avoid breakage.
Inform supervisor of low stock on napkins, condiments, or service tools.
Assist in restocking service areas during and after shifts.
Support special events or private dining setups.
Assist in closing duties like resetting tables, polishing cutlery, etc.
Follow instructions from Captains or Restaurant Managers.
Good communication in English, Hindi, and Kannada (optional but helpful in Bengaluru).
Basic knowledge of food menu and common drinks.
Professional grooming and polite behavior.
Physical stamina (standing/walking for long hours).
Exposure to international clientele—understanding global dining etiquette helps.
Awareness of vegetarian/non-vegetarian separation is crucial.
Tech-friendly: Ability to use POS or handheld ordering systems is often preferred.
