The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in all kitchen and back-of-house areas. This includes cleaning dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, supporting chefs and service staff, and ensuring that sanitation and safety standards are met at all times.
Wash and sanitize all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, and pans.
Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment, floors, walls, and work surfaces.
Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishwashing areas at all times.
Assist in garbage disposal and recycling as per company procedures.
Handle all kitchen equipment carefully to avoid damage.
Support kitchen staff with basic tasks during busy service periods (e.g., fetching items, restocking).
Ensure all cleaning and sanitizing duties are performed according to hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).
Follow all health, safety, and hygiene policies and report any issues immediately.
Assist in setting up kitchen areas for events or service as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience as a steward, dishwasher, or cleaner in a hospitality or food service environment is an advantage.
Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 kg (50 lbs).
Comfortable working in hot, humid, and wet environments.
