A restaurant cashier operates a point-of-sale (POS) system to process customer orders and payments, handle cash and card transactions, and issue receipts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Transaction Processing:
Operate the POS system to input customer orders, calculate bills, and process payments (cash, credit, debit, mobile).
Customer Interaction:
Greet customers, provide a welcoming atmosphere, answer questions about the menu, and handle general customer inquiries.
Cash Management:
Accurately count and handle cash, make change, and reconcile the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
Order Fulfillment:
Assist with taking orders, putting takeout orders into containers or bags, and sometimes helping with basic food preparation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Customer Service: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide a positive experience for customers.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus to ensure accuracy in transactions and cash handling.
Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform calculations for transactions and drawer balancing.
