Food preparation:
Wash, peel, cut, and otherwise prepare ingredients for other kitchen staff. Assist with basic cooking tasks and assembling dishes.
Cleaning and sanitation:
Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces. Load and unload the dishwasher and scrub pots and pans. Sweep and mop floors and take out trash.
Stocking and storage:
Receive, unpack, and properly store food and supply deliveries according to food safety standards. Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
Dishwashing:
Wash, dry, and put away all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
General support:
Assist with tasks like setting up serving dishes, packing takeout orders, and clearing tables. Communicate kitchen needs to supervisors.
Skills and qualifications
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Good communication skills.
A food handler's license or first-aid certification is often a plus.
